Asymmetric Gameplay: Mindclash Games Ironwood
Ironwood is a streamlined, highly asymmetric, card-driven tactical game for 1-2 players. Each round, you and your opponent take turns playing a total of three faction-specific cards, using them for their unique action effects. These effects allow you to position warbands, initiate battles, extract crystals, grant temporary passive bonuses, and much more. When combat arises, the same cards are repurposed for their combat values, used in a simultaneous bid to gain bonuses, deal and block casualties, and increase the Dominance level of your warbands to claim victory in battle. The two factions play completely differently, with unique decks, victory conditions, and even limited access to specific parts of the map. As the Commander of the Ironclad, your primary mission is to establish the foundations for your forges in the outer mountains, then build these forges once you’ve gathered enough crystals. As the Chieftain of the Woodwalkers, your goal is to find your people’s ancient totems through Vision cards, clear a path to them by defeating Ironclad warbands, and ultimately secure them in the remote forests, beyond Ironclad reach. Retrieve the third totem as the Chieftain or build the third forge as the Commander, and you instantly win the game. Ironwood also includes a straightforward solo mode against either the Ironclad or the Woodwalkers. Though both solo opponents follow similar core mechanics, each brings distinct faction-specific features and characteristics to the solo experience.
