In the heat of battle, there are no equals. Unmatched is a highly asymmetrical miniature fighting game designed for two or four players. Each hero is represented by a unique deck crafted to capture their individual style and legend. Strategic movement and deterministic combat resolution offer a distinctive gameplay experience that values skill and mastery. Just as you become adept with one set, new heroes emerge to introduce fresh match-ups. Combat is swiftly resolved through the comparison of attack and defense cards, with each card's special effects and a straightforward yet strategic timing system leading to engaging decision-making in every encounter. The game incorporates an enhanced version of the line-of-sight mechanism from Tannhäuser for ranged attacks and area effects.
In Unmatched: Slings & Arrows, the world becomes a stage where the Globe Theater transforms into a battlefield. William Shakespeare joins the fray alongside three of his iconic characters: The Wayward Sisters, Hamlet, and Titania. Designed by Jonathan Guberman, Shakespeare's deck was a standout in a 2020 design competition, rewarding players for completing lines in iambic pentameter. The Wayward Sisters, created by Jason Hager as a runner-up in the same competition, presents a multi-hero deck that challenges players to bring the witches' potion schemes to life through clever coordination.
